20 Tips on Reducing Anxiety and Stress

Check off the items that you can incorporate into your life starting today:

o    Beware of being caught up with negative news.  Don't jump to conclusions when confronted with upsetting news or information. Read the news only to get updates. Do NOT watch the news before you go to bed at night.

o    Take time to calm yourself: drink calming teas, practice breathing, think about your options then act positively in a constructive manner.

o    Drink half your weight in ounces of water.  If you weigh 120lbs, drink 60 ounces of room temperature water. Avoid ice cold water.

o    Eat healthy foods.  Eat lots of warm vegetable based soups. Please see Vicki Johnston's recipes.

o    Take deep breaths and be sure to exhale more than you inhale.  Breathe through the chest and fill up belly and then exhale deeply so you can make room for inhalation.

o    Use natural herbs to calm your nerves instead of addictive drugs or too much alcohol.

o    The occasional organic wine or beer can be good for the nerves.

o    Massage and other body work are very calming for the muscles and the nerves.

o    Acupuncture is very effective in relaxing the mind, body, and soul.

o    If you believe in the healing effects of Energy Medicine, use it.  It is very helpful, refreshing, and may give you a new start.

o    Take baths in Sea Salt and Baking soda.  Add some Lavender or other favorite essential oils that are made especially for baths.

o    Listen to soothing music to calm your nerves.  Sing a long with up beat music that has simple words and a good tempo to boost your mood.

o    Spend as much time in nature as you can. Walking and hiking will help to normalize the adrenals and keep hormones stable.

o    Start an organic garden, or make your own green house.  Nurturing nature will nurture you!

o    Spend time with your family, children, and pets, or socialize with good friends.

o    Drink organic caffeine free herbal teas.
o    ?Avoid too much coffee.  Use organic coffee as it is better for you.  Try a French Press to keep the coffee from becoming a reactor.

o    Exercise and dance.  Physical activity is known to calm your nerves and reduce stress.

o    Write, color, paint, knit, or spend time doing any other hobby that you enjoy.  Use your creativity to balance the brain, the heart, and the nervous system.

o    Find time to be still, contemplate, meditate, pray and ask for what you want.  Spirituality is scientifically known to help.  The Power of Prayer is known to heal.

The Root of the Problem - Toxins

Shall I eat this food? Am I allergic to Gluten? Why am I sneezing, wheezing, coughing and feeling fatigued? Why am I depressed? Why am I stressed? Why am I tired? Do I have Cancer, Diabetes, or Heart Disease? Will I have a heart attack or a stroke?

On a daily basis we are exposed to several pounds of toxic materials through our food, clothing, cosmetics, personal care, and cleaning products, furniture, textiles and more.

We are exposed to more toxins indoors than outdoors. On a daily basis we feel like we are in a combat zone. We are running around like the mice in the maze looking for our CHEESE but not getting satisfaction. Here is a thought. Is the cheese moldy? Did you know that mold can grow in your body and wrap itself around your cells?

So now we have chemical toxins in our bodies, stress, and mold! No wonder we don't feel well. At Divine Physics Health Institute, we address all of these issues to return you to a state of optimal health and emotional balance. More than ever you should be making YOU a priority. The Root of the Problem - Ups and Downs

Stocks are up today, down tomorrow. Oil Barrel prices are up but gas at the pump is down. Unemployment increased by ½ point today. Obama won the democratic candidacy but what is he going to do next? Colorado is immune from the economic chaos-so they say, but is it really! Are we done with the War? Media spins chaos, economy is in upheaval, health crisis is worse than ever, illness is on the rise, and we don't get a moment to ourselves to just rest and catch our breath! We are here to help!

We are your anchor, your resting nest, and your healing place. Read this for immediate relief!

The Root of the Problem - Mixed Signals

Sugar, Coffee, Bread, Pasta, and Wine. When we have that perfect glass of wine, it is worth it. Often times, it doesn't satiate the palette and make you go Ah! The next day you feel off, bloated, slow and need coffee. Then you have a bowl of pasta with garlic bread for dinner. You pile up the fat cells which hold toxins in the body.

The toxins require sugars which urge you to reach for cookies or a richly sweetened Latté frothed with sweet cream! The Fat Cells, Sugar, Stress Hormones and Toxins dominate the signals of the body. What should your body respond to? Foods that bring you down or foods that re-balance, energize and eliminate the fat cells?

You are worth it!

Baby Boomers Live On!

Where did the time go! We have kids in high school or in college. Some of us are grandparents. Wasn't it just a few months ago that we were listening to Elton John or Donna Summers? Did you know that George Bush, Bill Clinton, Sylvester Stallone, Dolly Parton, and Cher have all turned 60?

Here is some information I found on the Internet about Baby Boomers. In 2006, the oldest of the baby boomers, the generation born between 1946 and 1964, will turn 60 years old. Estimated number of baby boomers, as of July 1, 2005 was 78.2 million. Number of people turning 60 each day in 2006, according to projections is 7,918. That amounts to 330 every hour. Number of baby boomers living in 2030, according to projections will be about 57.8 million; 54.9 percent would be female. That year, boomers would be between ages 66 and 84.

Number of fitness and recreation centers nationwide in 2003, were 27,813. These are good places to visit on a regular basis for boomers who are trying to become or stay physically fit. Baby boomers are determined to stay young and active. Number of cosmetics, beauty supply and perfume stores in 2003 was 11,938. These stores carry numerous anti-aging skin care products aimed at people in this age group.

In my opinion, we Baby Boomers aren't giving up. We have just gotten our second wind. We do not want to end up like our parents. We have seen too much suffering and refuse to have that happen to us. No pills or nursing homes for me! Baby Boomers are hiking mountains, visiting spas, ballroom dancing, dating, skiing, enjoying sex, travelling to far and exotic places, getting massages on the beach, still working, and not seeing retirement anywhere in their near future. Oh, by the way, dying is for dead! We've got things to do! Aren't we all thinking the same thing! I'm proud to be a Baby Boomer member. AARP can wait! I'm not cashing in! I'm just a young thing and have big plans! Baby Boomers Live On!

How stressed are you and what is stress doing to you?

Today's lifestyle is more demanding than ever. You can't work fast enough. You can't get enough done in a day. You can't meet deadlines at work. You can't run around fast enough to get the kids to their activities and then run home to cook and clean. You only have a few minutes between work, dinner, and the soccer field or whatever you are involved in....You push yourself to get work done so that you can have an evening with your loved one, meet friends, go to the movies or a vacation. You make it to the vacation, have a lovely time, and come back home to a piled up load of work and more of the same.

Here is what happens to your body while all of these pressures are running your life. You are not breathing correctly. This impacts tension in the body and creates an acidic environment. You hold your muscles tense and restrict circulation. Your guts are tight and you develop digestive disorder. Cortisol is the stress hormone and nowadays we all produce lots of it unless we rest, breathe, eat properly, change our attitude, meditate and exercise, make us a priority and say NO to what eats up our live (pun intended), and find ways of enjoying our lives.

The ongoing pressures and stressors can cause damage to the nervous system as well. There goes the ability to think clearly, focus, remember well, and organize! This is as a result of the Autonomic Nervous System Response of Fight, Flight, or Freeze. Now you need extra help to unwind. STOP and take care of yourself. Make YOU a priority.

Irregular production of Cortisol stores fat! It also converts sugar to fat and stores it in the cells. Improper Cortisol production also causes a series of health issues such as Sleep Disorders and Adrenal Distress or Fatigue. This in turn causes drained or confused hormones. The Endocrine Glands are incapable of producing a balanced amount of hormone from each gland. For example, adrenal deficiency may cause Hypo-Thyroidism and cause weight gain. Once the Endocrine system is out of balance, aging begins.
