Antioxidants are phytochemicals, vitamins and other nutrients that protect our cells from damage caused by reactive oxygen molecules. Reactive oxygen molecules, also called free radicals, are short of an electron, so they are unstable. Like a gang of thugs, they roam through our systems, stealing electrons from healthy molecules in the body.
